Veterans Transition Center (VTC)is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has acquired housing and a self-help center at the former Fort Ord to assist the homeless veterans in the area to become as self-sufficient as possible. The self-help center includes classrooms, office spaces, conference rooms and food/clothing distribution facilities. VTC works in close partnership within a coalition of other area homeless services to provide a comprehensive, continuum of care approach to the needs of homeless veterans and the homeless population at large. VTC has a very active outreach program to assist veterans.
Mission Statement: The mission of VTC is “to empower Veterans to transition from crisis to self-sufficiency.” Since 1996, this 501c3 non-profit has operated on the old Ft Ord complex to provide homeless Veterans and their families with food, clothing, case management, life skills, substance abuse counseling, benefit enrollment, medical referrals, employment training, and housing.
