Founded in 1962 in an Arlington VA church basement, Vanguard is the area's leader in addiction recovery, operating programs throughout metropolitan Washington, DC. On any given day, more than 250 adolescents and adults are enrolled in their outpatient and residential treatment programs. in addition, they are engaged in drug and alcohol education and prevention programs reaching hundreds of additional families and youth. As the oldest and one of the most successful nonprofit treatment agencies in the area, Vanguard is proud to offer home, help and healing to people struggling with addictions. Since their founding, they have helped more than 30,000 men, women and teens overcome their substance abuse problems, rejoin their families and lead productive, fulfilling lives.
