The Carying Place gives families an opportunity to stabilize their financial situation, leading to permanent self-sustaining housing. Each family accepted into the program is paired with a volunteer team, which works with the family to develop a personalized plan for self-sufficiency. Through financial assistance and broad-based counseling in life skills, The Carying Place seeks to help people work towards self-reliance and growth.They serve six families at a time. The families stay in the programs up to four months.

Mission Statement: The Carying Place teaches homeless, working families with children, life skills for attaining independent living while providing short-term housing and support services to address their individual needs. Our goal is to help homeless, working families achieve independent living with the help of volunteer Support Partners. Our Support Partners and staff provide weekly guidance in managing personal finances, seeking permanent affordable housing, and maintaining employment – breaking the cycle of poverty families have experienced. Over a 16-week period, these families are taught the skills required for self-sufficiency through mandatory Thursday evening meetings with their Support Partners.
