Recovery Road, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan is a group of Sober Living Houses with four male houses & three female houses; offering a supportive environment that allows new beginnings for both men and women. Their clients have personal challenges with drug and alcohol dependencies. They try to provide them with a successful transition to mainstream life. Their goal is to provide a structured, caring environment free from drugs and alcohol. Recovery Road are unique in that they try to offer a new way of life. A life of hope and greater opportunity to develop the changes needed for recovery. They encourage their residents to be proactive in their recovery from drugs/alcohol. They must specifically address their own needs and problems while building on strengths and tapping into their inner resources. Also, they know that chemical dependency is a real disease, which has impacts on you and those who you love. Their residential sober living affords you the time to develop skills to build a rich and full life. You will know when the time is right to move out and up with your life. AA/NA meetings, housing meetings, sponsors will all play a major role in this endeavor. Recovery Road envision a sober community that works together to create an environment of growth, support and accountability for everyone. Therefore, they stress their primary goal of helping residents focus on recovery as a way of life. They stress that lasting sobriety requires a transformation in attitudes and behavior each day for the rest of your life. New members are accepted after a positive referral from their facility or treatment program, and a favorable informal interview. Many of their members have been referrals from those already residing in their houses. The house rules are simple but strictly enforced by the management. The house members are required to obtain employment within a reasonable period of time. Cooperation between the house members is something the management feels is imperative for success. Random urine testing is provided at each house. And alcohol breath tests are done daily.
