The shelter provides a safe haven for victims of family violence and/or sexual assault who are being physically, sexually or emotionally abused and have no safe place to go or way to get there. Services are provided to residents of a seven-county service area, which includes Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery counties. Victims from other counties and out-of-state are admitted when space is available on a case-by-case basis. Shelter features 12 bedrooms, which can be outfitted to suit the needs of the family. The shelter has four fully stocked kitchens where residents can prepare meals. Washing machines and dryers are available. There is a central living area where residents can watch television and socialize, and a playground.
